CANTERBURY has become the latest city to acquire a makeover on the high street with the kitsch Cath Kidston opening its doors shortly followed by Jack Wills. Although both shops look great, do they suit the city's vibe?

Is the Odeon out of the picture?

Canterbury students are disappointed with the standards of the Odeon Cinema complex. 

The cinema has traditionally provided a cheap and fun venue for students and families of all ages. Students in Canterbury visit the Odeon cinema, situated a convenient five minute walk from the Christ Church campus for a relaxed and cheap outing. There are, however, some who feel the complex is not of the same high standard that we have come to expect of the Odeon chains across the country.

The sun has got his hat on

CANTERBURY has recently witnessed a sudden upturn in tourism thanks to this years early summer. With temperatures reaching a high of 26 degrees residents have also been enjoying the sun. Parks have seen a busy April with ice creams and drinks sales booming.


Rise in care for the elderly and disabled

MORE than 5,000 elderly and disabled residents are likely to pay more for care support in the Kent County Council (KCC).

Plans have been revealed by social services chiefs, proposing an increase in the cost of care which with result in changes to those who receive help in their homes, such as shopping, cooking meals, cleaning and personal bathing.

Millions of people tuned into BBC One on Tuesday night for the seventh series of the Apprentice. Amongst the 16 candidates, apprentice contestant Vincent Disneur from Canterbury, claims his “very good looks” will make him stand out from the crowd.

Transport funding cuts affect the elderly and disabled

THE ELDERLY and the disabled will soon experience a change in the way they travel.

The government has reduced funding in the countries travel scheme leaving districts with less money to put into their own travel fund. This means that the free bus travel that the elderly and disabled currently enjoy will see a cut in the times they are able to travel.
